Measuring the standard size of a Topps card from 1952-1956, the Banty Red 1952 Baseball Stars Series began construction in the winter of 2014 and will complete sometime in early 2023. The target size—including the extended modern players is 860 cards. There were, originally, 12 sets of low-numbers printed. Due to “upgrading” the process and new artwork, many cards have been retired for upgrades.
To date, the production breaks down as follows…
SERIES ONE: Card Numbers 1-210—Because these were the first produced, they will always be more plentiful. There are print runs of 10-12 of each card already established. No plans are in the works to produce more at this time (this can change).
SERIES TWO: Card Numbers 211-307—These have a print run similar to the first series. The star cards were printed a bit less. Frankly, this was done on purpose to avoid weakening the set’s integrity and composition.
SERIES THREE “Modern 1”: Card Numbers 308-407—A beautiful random mix of players that debuted after the summer of 1952. These also have a print run of 9-12 per subject.
MID NUMBERS: Card Numbers 408-512—At this time, there are only 6-8 of each card printed. These will list infrequently.
HIGH NUMBERS: 513-600—These will begin listing in 2021. There are only 4-6 of each of these. Very infrequent listings. Up to 2 per year maximum—usually less.
MODERN HIGHS: 601+ — Look for local heroes and special players from your childhood adorned on glorious vintage stock in the iconic “Fifty-Two” format!
